Overview

At UF Health, we are seeking a highly skilled RN Lactation Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our maternal health team, you will play a critical role in promoting exclusive breastfeeding and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

* Provide individual and group breastfeeding education to patients and families, utilizing evidence-based practices and current research.
* Collaborate with patients and staff to drive efforts of exclusive breastfeeding, providing guidance and recommendations as needed.
* Document patient progress and pertinent information in the medical record, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
* Offer consult services by phone for patients and staff, providing expert advice and support.
* Develop and implement breastfeeding education programs for staff, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality care.
* Coordinate 24-hour lactation support for the department, utilizing Certified Lactation Counselors (CLCs) whenever possible.
* Compile statistics related to breastfeeding and staff documentation, providing regular reports to management.
* Participate in external education services, including childbirth classes and breastfeeding support groups.
* Provide direct patient care consistent with the Registered Nurse job description as necessary.

Qualifications

* Associate's degree in Nursing
* Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
* 1 year of Lactation Counselor experience
