Position Title: Teacher III

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Eckhardt's, Buffalo, NY

Salary: Starting at 17.03 USD Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY

The Teacher III is responsible for guiding classroom activities while prioritizing the health and safety of children. This role encompasses both educational and non-educational tasks that foster child development. The educator collaborates with children and parents, serving as a mentor for team members engaged in the child's growth. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating closely with parents and service area staff.
  • Ensuring a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Exemplifying a positive work ethic for parents and staff.
  • Conducting home visits and parent conferences for all children.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Staying updated with educational research and participating in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Welcoming parents and children upon arrival and assisting with transportation.
  • Guiding and mentoring teachers, volunteers, and parents within the program.
  • Working collaboratively with the education team to implement daily instructional plans.
  • Maintaining accurate records, reports, and data for the program.
  • Cooperating with other service area staff regarding the needs of children and families.
  • Supervising and guiding children during meal times and assisting with clean-up.
  • Performing related duties as required to support the agency's mission.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred: Erie County resident

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

TEACHER IV: Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education; certification in Birth-2 required.

OR

TEACHER III: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education with two years of teaching experience, or an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education with three years of experience working with preschool-aged children.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Completion of the CAO of Erie County, Inc. application form, including the NYS SCR Clearance form, criminal record certification, and reference checks is required. All candidates hired for positions in CAO Head Start programs must pass a physical examination conducted by a CAO physician, at the expense of CAO. Additionally, candidates must receive acceptable SCR clearance and be free of criminal convictions related to child welfare. Fingerprinting is also required.
