Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Registered

Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist Registered to join our team. As a Respiratory Therapist Registered, you will be responsible for assessing patients' respiratory care needs, planning and implementing treatment modalities, and evaluating patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients' respiratory care needs based on various data
  • Plan, organize, perform, and evaluate treatment modalities to meet those needs
  • Communicate with other members of the patient care team
  • Perform and document routine therapeutic modalities, including aerosolized medications, secretion management techniques, pulmonary volume expansion, oxygen therapy, and artificial airway care
  • Initiate and manage conventional and high-frequency mechanical ventilators according to established protocol
  • Provide patient and family education on disease management
  • Assist with intra-hospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients
  • Responsible for acute airway management in emergent situations
  • Set up and manage non-invasive monitoring, including ETCO monitors and pulse oximeters
  • Collect arterial blood gas samples and process through point-of-care blood analyzers
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to regulatory requirements and safety standards
Requirements:
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist
