Job Summary

The Food Service Worker position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, or serving duties to support food service operations at Ilisagvik College in Barrow, AK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain food service areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Prepare and serve food products while following standard food-handling procedures.
  • Assist cooks and other staff members as needed.
  • Coordinate activities with other food service staff to ensure efficient operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the department's success.

Requirements

  • Must have an Alaska Food Handler's Card or ServSafe certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior food service experience and/or training that demonstrates knowledge of food preparation, food service, or a suitability and interest in this type of work.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

This is an industrial kitchen located in a higher education setting. The employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
