Job Summary

Covenant Health (Tennessee) is seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join our team at Cumberland Medical Center. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for operating high-tech equipment to produce high-quality CT images, ensuring a safe and efficient imaging process for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex CT procedures, including selecting and operating computed tomography systems, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment.
  • Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, post-processing, and complete exams in the electronic medical record and send to PACS.
  • Adjust protocols and dose as necessary to maintain established Dose Reference Levels per ACR and AAPM guidelines.
  • Identify and screen patients and others according to CT guidelines for safety, obtaining patient history, completing and verifying accurate consents, informed consent, and/or permits as needed.
  • Provide patient instructions/education to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety, including monitoring patients by audio/visual means during exams.
  • Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with regulations while applying principles of computed tomography safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
  • Identify, prepare, and/or administer medications as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner, perform venipuncture for contrast media administration as ordered/per test design as necessary for CT procedure being performed within scope of practice.
  • Assist radiologists with CT procedures (biopsies, etc.), assure time-outs are performed, and coordinate scheduling and patient flow.
  • Educate, train, or orient new staff members, provide education for student technologists, and stay current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and perform BLS as needed.
Requirements
  • Must have successfully completed an educational program that is accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT.
  • Must have and maintain one of the following: ARRT (R) and within 1 year ARRT (CT) required, Nuclear Medicine Technology certification board certified (NMTCB) and within one year ARRT (CT) required, or Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and within one year ARRT (CT) required.
  • BLS certified, ARRT(R) registered ARRT (CT) preferred.
