Job Summary:

Amergis is seeking a skilled Licensed Addiction Counselor to join our team in a part-time capacity. As a key member of our team, you will provide one-on-one drug and alcohol consultations to patients, as well as individual and group therapy in various settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides addiction-related health and psychosocial assessments
  • Assists with analyzing patient health needs and establishes applicable treatment programs
  • Provides individual and group treatment/therapy
  • Consults unit staff on diagnosis and treatment planning when necessary
  • Provides crisis intervention in accordance with clinical standards and programming
  • Assigns patients to special programs or placements to meet health needs and/or legal requirements
  • Provides proper clinical documentation per facility policy
  • Communicates with clinical staff on treatment planning and patient goals
  • Helps family members understand their role in the recovery process and assists with coping and family-related issues
  • Modifies treatment programs as necessary based on observations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or public health required
  • Current license or certificate in addictions/substance abuse counseling in the state of assignment required
  • Experience in behavioral health guidelines, including behavioral health assessments, individual and group therapy, and clinical management of patients with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues preferred
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
