Job Summary

The District of Columbia Courts is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team in the Family Court Social Services Division. As a Clinical Psychologist - Forensic Expert, you will play a critical role in administering psychological and educational tests to determine intellectual, educational, and personality functioning, and diagnosing mental health issues in a forensic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer standard psychological and educational tests to determine intellectual, educational, and personality functioning.
  • Diagnose mental health issues using the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
  • Conduct face-to-face interviews with youth, family, and identified individuals to evaluate mental health and risk to public safety.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to address mental health issues.
  • Provide clinical expert testimony to court officials in matters related to evaluations and clinical procedures and findings.
  • Prepare accurate and proficient reports and make oral and written presentations of facts that impact judicial decision-making and rehabilitation of youth and their families.
  • Participate in case conferences and consultation with court officials, such as judges, probation officers, social workers, and case managers, regarding psychological issues related to adjudication and disposition.
  • Perform other clinical or division duties, such as clinical research projects or inter-agency assignments, as assigned by the Chief Psychologist.
  • Maintain files, records, and case-related documents in a well-organized manner.
Requirements
  • A doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an American Psychological Association accredited psychology program.
  • A license to practice psychology in the District of Columbia.
  • Three years of experience applying established scientific methods and principles of psychology, plus two years of supervisory experience.
  • Graduation from the Courts' Management Training Program may substitute for one year of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with juveniles.
  • Clinical applied research experience.
  • Clinical forensic experience.
  • Judicial consulting experience.
