Lead Data Engineer

TEC Systems Group, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our team in Wichita, KS. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and managing scalable data solutions, ensuring data integrity, and optimizing data access across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical mentorship to a diverse team of data professionals, promoting code quality and best practices.
  • Consult on the design and development of data pipelines, warehouses, lakes, and ETL solutions, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Enhance data infrastructure and processes, driving automation for efficiency and aligning with industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with team members, management, and customers to manage data projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
  • Ensure data privacy and integrity, adhering to data privacy regulations such as HIPAA when handling sensitive customer information.
  • Address technical challenges and foster a collaborative environment where team members feel empowered to contribute to problem-solving efforts.
  • Provide accurate project estimates, including labor, tooling requirements, and manage project deliverables.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Lead a high-performing data team by fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Encourage a sense of ownership among team members, promoting accountability for contributions and outcomes.
  • Promote a collaborative, transparent, and open culture, encouraging teams to embrace change, feedback, and continuous learning.
  • Address conflicts within the team constructively, facilitating discussions to arrive at solutions and ensure alignment on technical priorities.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced skills in SQL required.
  • Experience with ETL processes, data modeling, and data warehousing.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Expertise in Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics for ETL processes, big data, and advanced analytics.
  • Skilled in SSIS for automating data workflows and integration tasks.
  • Familiarity with Power BI preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSI Pi and Ignition preferred.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years in a technical leadership role.
  • 5+ years of demonstrable experience using SQL.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Exceptional ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven success in managing multiple, concurrent projects with strong organizational and documentation skills.
