POSITION OVERVIEW

The Seasonal Aquatic Safety Officer is accountable for ensuring the well-being of individuals utilizing the aquatic facilities and adjacent areas. This role involves acting as the primary responder during emergencies and delivering exceptional customer service to all visitors and participants. Adherence to all municipal and facility regulations is essential. Participation in ongoing training sessions is required to maintain readiness. Responsibilities also include performing various maintenance tasks related to the pool, such as assessing water quality and monitoring equipment functionality. All necessary documentation and reports must be completed accurately.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Applicants must be at least 15 years old and currently pursuing a high school diploma or equivalent. Valid certifications in Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer from the American Red Cross are mandatory.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Up-to-date knowledge of all necessary certifications
  • Effective communication and public relations skills
  • Physical capability to walk, stand, kneel, climb, sit, and swim for extended periods
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 75 lbs
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position necessitates moderate physical exertion, including the capacity to apply up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds consistently to move items. The following physical abilities are also required: balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.

Successful candidates must undergo a background investigation and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment. A motor vehicle record check and a job-related medical examination may also be necessary. Positions classified as safety-sensitive are subject to random drug and alcohol testing after employment.
