About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at LCMC Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the circulating nurse with patient positioning, confirmation, and preparation of the operative site, as well as care of operative specimens and room turnover.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field, adhering to strict asepsis standards.
  • Use proper sterilization methods for instruments prior to procedures.
  • Understand and implement asepsis standards, taking corrective action when any unsafe practices, conditions, or breaks occur.
  • Prepare the operating room with sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures.
  • Follow policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, draping, and counting with the circulating nurse.
  • Perform the role of first scrub on basic surgical cases.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and assist with retracting tissue, holding instrumentation, and cutting suture.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
  • Current BLS Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Surgical Technologist certification.
  • Previous experience as a surgical technologist.

Work Environment
  • Full-time position.
  • Day shift, evening shift, Monday to Friday, and on-call rotations.
