Senior Prosecutor

At Jackson County Georgia, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Prosecutor to join our team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of cases, from misdemeanors to more complex prosecutions.

Job Summary

The Senior Prosecutor will be responsible for investigating and prosecuting cases in the Jackson County State Court. This includes reviewing reports from law enforcement, approving or returning cases for further investigation, researching alternative crimes, and reading and researching case law.

The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to effectively present cases to judges and juries. They must also be able to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and prosecute cases in the Jackson County State Court
• Review reports from law enforcement and approve or return cases for further investigation
• Research alternative crimes and read and research case law
• Draft accusations and ensure they are properly prepared
• Evaluate and research potential defenses and negotiate pleas to dispose of cases
• Develop trial strategy for each case and question witnesses
• Determine appropriate sentence recommendations and call arraignment calendars
• Subpoena witnesses for motions and research and argue pretrial and post-trial motions
• Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a strong understanding of Georgia State Law and departmental policies and procedures. A background in law enforcement or a related field is preferred, but not required.

Candidates must also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively present cases to judges and juries. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with attention to detail, are essential for success in this role.

Salary Range

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $70,000-$90,000 per year, based on industry standards and the level of experience required.
