Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to fill the role of Clinical Lead Nurse. This position will oversee the day-to-day provision of patient care, including staffing, workflow, equipment, and supplies. The successful candidate will assist the supervisor in evaluating and adjusting care and services provided by clinical and clinical support staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as an expert clinical and department resource.
  • Provide work direction to other staff and/or assist with patient care flow and the provision of services.
  • Work to promote and implement care management and quality initiatives.
  • Assist in establishing quality standards for the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate care delivery provided and take action to correct problems appropriately.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory, compliance, and scope of practice guidelines.
  • Assist in ensuring staff compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Promote and uphold safety and infection control standards for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Use the nursing process to provide ongoing care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in a patient's status and need for care.
  • Determine priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs.
  • Provide triage and consultation to patients, families, and/or significant others according to protocol and organization guidelines.
  • Prepare and room patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information.
  • Perform laboratory procedures using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions/infection control guidelines.
  • Perform advanced clinical tasks or skills, such as removal of sutures and staples, catheterization, audiograms, laboratory procedures, and spirometry, with demonstrated competency and under clinical supervision.
  • Assist physicians/providers with procedures and surgeries, such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
  • Administer medications, under physician/provider orders, including immunizations, antibiotics, narcotic pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, insulin, blood thinners, and allergy antigens.
  • Initiate, maintain, and discontinue IV therapy; perform mixing of medications according to protocols.
  • Assess and provide basic to complex patient education and counseling on the performance of tasks, skills, treatment, and self-care, integrating health promotion and preventive aspects of care.
  • Follow through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times, and referrals to other facilities or services.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in nursing that includes experiences in precepting and acting as a nursing resource.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively make critical, independent decisions.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including delegation, organization, prioritization, and building team rapport.
  • Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding, navigation within a Windows operating system, use of electronic mail, and electronic medical records systems.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday. The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from the floor to the waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance. The candidate must also be able to push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present. The candidate will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body fluids on a frequent basis and will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.
