Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to join our team at St. Joseph School District. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students with cognitive, behavioral, and learning disabilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community resources to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
  • Assess student progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Supervise and guide assistant teachers, student teachers, and instructional assistants to ensure a smooth and effective classroom program.
  • Facilitate parent education programs to promote parent involvement and leadership.
  • Monitor students in various educational environments to ensure a safe and positive learning experience.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to support individualized instruction and behavioral intervention plans.
  • Collect and analyze data related to student performance and progress.
  • Provide instructional and behavioral modifications, and communicate students' needs and accommodations to classroom teachers and other staff.
  • Facilitate IEP meetings and complete necessary paperwork associated with the special education process.
  • Participate in evaluation teams, including administering achievement assessments and completing formal observations.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree and valid Missouri Teacher certification in Early Childhood Special Education or Early Childhood with the ability to achieve a provisional certificate in Special Education.
  • Some physical strength and agility, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, sit on the floor with children, kneel, stoop, and crawl, and push/pull children in wagons and strollers.
  • Preferred: A Master's Degree and previous teaching experience.
Working Conditions

This is a 9-month position with the possibility of emergency telework. The successful candidate will be expected to work in a regular, reliable, and punctual manner.
