Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pre-admission Nurse to join our team at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Park Ten. As a key member of our surgical services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient pre-admission process for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and prepare for the preadmission of patients, ensuring all necessary information and documentation are complete and accurate.
  • Meet all required deadlines, demonstrating discretion and ability in establishing priority.
  • Deliver indirect and direct patient care according to established standards, taking into consideration the age and risk factors of the patient.
  • Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients, utilizing nursing judgment in decision-making.
  • Act as a patient advocate, meeting the physical and psychological needs of patients.
  • Perform patient assessment and reassessment, documenting these assessments as a basis for planning each patient's care.
  • Ensure all nursing interventions and patient responses are communicated to responsible practitioners as indicated, and that all components of the nursing process are documented in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Integrate and coordinate care across settings and among disciplines, implementing physician's orders effectively and safely in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Maintain BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications as applicable, and acquire skills on equipment necessary to complete required responsibilities.
  • Document all records according to established policies and procedures, assessing information/documents on AdvantX while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Assist with reviewing and updating policies and procedures, performing effectively in stressful situations to fulfill position responsibilities.
  • Provide teaching to patients/parents of children per level of understanding, performing additional duties as needed by the department.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate ability to work as a team member and communicate directly and professionally.
  • Be flexible, reliable, productive, patient-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, identifying and categorizing each patient's age-specific grouping of needs.
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance, with general familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room.
