The Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at the facility. This position is pivotal in managing programs that uphold regulatory standards and enhance workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis: Assess data to identify opportunities for proactive enhancements within the operational framework and drive initiatives to fruition.
- Leadership and Support: Offer guidance and support for the establishment and maintenance of compliance programs and EHS management processes.
- Hazard Management: Spearhead initiatives to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Incident Investigation: Oversee EHS investigations, conduct root cause analyses, and formulate corrective actions for incidents within the operational scope.
- Recordkeeping and Reporting: Manage regulatory documentation, reporting, and case management activities as required.
- Training Coordination: Organize and monitor training for team members regarding health, safety, and environmental policies and standards.
- KPI Management: Document and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to health and safety performance.
- Compliance Assurance: Direct mandatory compliance monitoring and reporting activities for air, water, and waste management.
- Policy Alignment: Ensure adherence to Southwire's EHS policies and procedures.
- Emergency Response Coordination: Act as the Emergency Response Coordinator, facilitating emergency services and contractor coordination, requiring on-call availability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a Science-related field relevant to health, safety, and environmental practices.
- A minimum of 9 years of experience in industrial health, safety, and environmental roles.
- Familiarity with various safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, ANSI).
- Professional certification is preferred.
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours or shifts as necessary.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal abilities.
