Position Overview:

The Field Engineer is responsible for independently overseeing and evaluating construction activities to ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and codes. This role involves notifying project management of significant issues and documenting inspection and testing activities to confirm compliance with project specifications. A comprehensive understanding of the project scope and schedule is essential for success in this position.

Location & Travel Details:
You will have the opportunity to travel nationwide, focusing on sustainability initiatives and assisting teams in constructing wind infrastructure. You may be assigned to project sites across various states, with additional weekly subsistence provided to support living expenses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures.
  • Inspect and verify the quality of work on large-scale wind and solar projects, including roads, environmental compliance, excavations, and installations.
  • Ensure construction work aligns with design documents.
  • Review inspection reports, identify non-conformities, and facilitate resolutions.
  • Maintain essential logs, including Material Tracking, Project Test and Inspection, and Non-Conformance logs.
  • Coordinate submittals to adhere to project timelines.
  • Verify that all materials meet approved specifications.
  • Conduct surveying and measurements for construction elements.
  • Organize daily activities to ensure accurate recording of quality control data.
  • Document daily work scope and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Identify and address deficiencies promptly.
  • Collaborate with the permitting team to secure necessary permits.
  • Work closely with the Field Quality Manager to ensure compliance with QA/QC standards.
  • Communicate effectively with construction managers regarding project progress and schedules.
  • Compile information for operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Manage inventory processes for incoming materials.
  • Establish and manage final punch lists.
  • Prepare daily project updates for relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in validating calibrated tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other Field Engineers and Quality Inspectors.
  • Utilize construction management software for documentation and data collection.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications:

Field Engineer I:
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in a related construction role.
  • Ability to complete local or state certified SWPPP inspector training.
Field Engineer II:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 2 years of experience.
  • Or an Associate degree in a related field with 3-5 years of experience.
Field Engineer III:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Or an Associate degree in a related field with 5+ years of experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Commitment to health and safety principles.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management software.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents.
  • Effective communication skills with diverse teams.
Working Environment:
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime.
  • Job sites may involve exposure to physical risks, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
