Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the store manager in leading teams in planning, implementing, and executing merchandising and operating initiatives.
  • Develop and implement action plans to improve store performance and achieve sales and profit goals.
  • Manage store operations in the absence of the store manager, ensuring seamless execution of daily tasks and activities.
  • Collaborate with department heads and associates to identify opportunities for improvement and develop solutions to drive sales and profitability.
  • Role model and demand a high level of customer service, resolving customer and associate issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Drive sales growth by working with department managers to maximize sales and profits, reduce shrink, and improve each store department's contribution.
  • Assist the store manager in regular store-level financial performance discussions with associates, developing budgets and other targeted goals.
  • Analyze and respond to the competitive landscape within the district and division.
  • Demonstrate inclusionary leadership, expecting inclusive behavior from associates.
  • Utilize coordinators and other field staff to ensure store departments achieve sales and profit goals, and ensure implementation and execution of division merchandising plans.
  • Promote and support strong relationships with local community organizations in the store's surrounding area.
  • Assist in building proactive and productive relationships with union representatives and business agents, if applicable.
  • Communicate necessary information to associates to help them effectively carry out their duties.
  • Serve as a liaison to store and district managers and coordinators on the effectiveness of division merchandising and operational plans and programs.
  • Assist the store manager in staffing, reducing turnover, and increasing retention.
  • Provide timely individual and department performance feedback to department heads and associates.
  • Assist with labor management and supply costs on a daily basis to meet customer service and financial targets.
  • Ensure store compliance and associate knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and enterprise policies.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports on the performance of their duties, complete performance reviews, and provide feedback to direct reports.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience as a department manager, service manager, or equivalent experience.
  • Store manager or district manager approval.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Retail management experience and knowledge of all aspects of store operations.
  • Staff supervisory experience.
