Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Groundman Assistant to join our United States Construction Services team at Power Plus. As a key member of our crew, you will play a vital role in installing new infrastructure for Edison, including pulling primary and secondary cable, making secondary connections in hand holes, transformers, and electrical panels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Load and unload tools, materials, and supplies into and out of vehicles at crew headquarters and job sites.
  • Operate hand and power tools, including digging holes by hand for pole installation, climbing ladders, manholes, and confined spaces.
  • Set and install underground structures, locate, pull, remove, or terminate cables.
  • Operate hydraulic equipment, including boom trucks, and forklifts to load and unload work materials and supplies.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Attend all mandated OSHA and company training sessions.
  • Receive and review work assignments and routes, plan routes, check directions, and locations, and obtain vehicle safety inspections.
  • Fuel vehicles at designated fueling stations as needed.
  • Perform physical tasks, including walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, or squatting to access structures and equipment.
  • Lift metal cabinet doors and use hand and power tools to open access panels and lift manhole covers.
  • Attend daily and regularly scheduled tailboard meetings and work as part of a construction crew.
Requirements
  • Must have a valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and possibly noisy environments, and lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Must be able to safely operate heavy equipment, forklifts, and mobile cranes in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Must be able to verify eligibility to work in the United States and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Manual labor experience is required.
