Job Summary

The Pal-Mac Monitor will provide essential support to the District by assisting with routine, non-teaching duties, including student supervision in school, on school property, and at school-related functions. This role requires a positive, approachable, and respectful individual who can effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in supervising students during various periods, including recreation, lunch, study halls, field trips, and transportation.
  • Maintain order in school areas, such as gymnasiums, locker rooms, swimming pools, and hallways.
  • Ensure student safety practices are followed in and around school transportation vehicles and district buildings.
  • Oversee students passing between classes, in locker rooms, and on premises before and after school.
  • Issue athletic supplies and equipment.
  • Assist children in lower grades with wearing apparel and in the cafeteria.
  • Perform clerical duties under close supervision.
  • Render basic first aid treatment when needed.
Customer Service Approach
  • Greet parents, students, community members, employees, and visitors with a friendly and helpful attitude.
  • Display a customer service approach when working with others in person, on the phone, and through written and electronic communication.
  • Be attentive to the needs of all individuals who request assistance.
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Utilize skills to de-escalate situations when others are in a heightened or excited state.
Requirements
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
  • Fingerprint clearance through New York State Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability.
  • Evidence of an open, collaborative style that fosters a sense of teamwork and common purpose.
  • Proven people skills and effective communication with a sense of humor.
  • Willingness to become an active, engaged, and visible member of the Pal-Mac community.
  • A clear communicator in oral and written language, including electronic communication.
