About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified Associate General Counsel to join our Office of General Counsel at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As an employment law specialist, you will report directly to the General Counsel and provide expert advice on labor and employment law matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise the DPH state office on labor and employment law matters, ensuring compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations.
  • Manage employment investigations and employee relations matters, developing cases through the EEOC's and GCEO's administrative process.
  • Draft policies, procedures, and related resources to support leadership in performance improvement.
  • Provide training for human resources staff and others on employment law and compliance issues.
  • Draft memoranda, forms, letters, notices, and other legal documents as requested.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable state and federal statutes and regulations, and review and analyze proposed legislation.
  • Assist with drafting and revising department rules and regulations, and perform other duties as assigned by the DPH General Counsel.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university and be licensed to practice law in Georgia. Additionally, you should have four years of experience in a managerial role in job-related legal experience.
