MRI Supervisor Job Description

UC San Diego is seeking a highly skilled MRI Supervisor to oversee the operations of our radiology services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality diagnostic services and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise licensed technologists providing diagnostic and patient care services
  • Monitor staff utilization and productivity, reviewing test results to ensure appropriate application of equipment and imaging systems
  • Oversee operations of radiology services, ensuring adherence to productivity and quality standards, as well as internal policy and external regulations
  • Adjust protocols as needed to achieve high-quality results
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Recommend improvements to departmental procedures and policies to provide patients with the highest quality services
  • Train radiology technologists on new techniques, systems, operations, and regulations
  • Mentor staff in meeting professional goals and developing growth areas
  • Consult with radiology leaders on developing strategies for performance improvement
  • Assist management in coordinating staff development, training, and competency assessment
  • Communicate regularly across services to assure quality diagnostic services, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams related to improvements in patient care or operations
  • Participate in recruiting and conducts new employee orientation
  • Evaluate performance and competency and defines development goals
  • Recommend changes in staffing and budget to ensure the efficient operation of Radiology
  • Serve as a role model for assigned staff
Requirements:
  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training
  • OR a Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare administration, or related area plus five (5+) or more years of relevant MRI experience/training
  • Registered Technologist for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) issued by ARRT or ARMRIT
  • Experience with subject matter knowledge of a radiology modality, with ability to apply principles to an acute care setting to ensure operations meet regulatory standards
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO)
  • One to three (1-3) years lead role or supervisory experience
  • Venipuncture certification
