The Grain Packing Operator plays a crucial role in managing the processing of wheat germ, ensuring it is packed according to a predetermined schedule into 50-pound bags, totes, or drums. This position operates during the 3rd Shift, with hours from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle wheat germ in accordance with established schedules.
  • Accurately assess wheat germ requirements and determine the appropriate silos or hoppers for optimal production efficiency.
  • Adjust blending controls and hoses to ensure the correct blend and storage options are utilized.
  • Maintain precise and organized records of the type and quantity of wheat germ blended for daily inventory tracking.
  • Responsible for weighing, blending, packing, and labeling the final product.
  • Engage in effective communication with team members on a daily basis.
  • Conduct cleaning operations for bagging and storage areas.
  • Assist in the monthly inventory of finished products and continuously monitor inventory levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be capable of working independently and following detailed instructions.
  • Ability to monitor product quality and equipment functionality.
  • Familiarity with Standard Operating Procedures is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask, along with proficiency in reading and writing.
  • Availability to work various shifts including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.
  • On-the-job training will be provided.
  • Safety training is mandatory and will be provided.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and different shifts may be necessary.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • This role involves physical activities such as lifting, pulling, and standing on concrete surfaces.
  • Exposure to environmental factors such as noise, dust, and temperature variations.
  • Working conditions may include extreme temperatures ranging from 40 to 100 degrees.
  • Must be able to navigate confined spaces and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
