Job Summary

Mission Neighborhood Health Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical providers in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare Patient Rooms: Ensure that patient rooms are prepared for each clinical day, including restocking supplies, cleaning counters, sinks, and exam chairs, and restocking forms and handouts.
  2. Confirm Appointments: Complete confirmation calls and visit/chart preparation prior to each clinical day/shift.
  3. Team-Based Approach: Promote a team-based approach to care and ensure excellent flow during the clinical shift by proactively communicating with providers and anticipating their needs.
  4. Patient Intake: Intake all patients, take and record vital signs, document patient history as relevant, listen to patients' chief complaints, and set patient expectations for the visit.
  5. Immunizations and Testing: Prepare and administer immunizations as ordered by medical providers, and prepare and administer point-of-care HbA1c and glucose tests, Pulmonary Function Tests (peakflow), EKG's, and Nebulizer treatments as ordered.
  6. Phlebotomy and Lab Tests: Perform phlebotomy, urinalysis, and UCG pregnancy tests as ordered by medical providers.
  7. Documentation: Complete all required documentation in the Electronic Health Record, correctly and efficiently.
  8. Equipment Maintenance: Sterilize equipment using the autoclave and clean the autoclave as assigned.
  9. Translation Services: Provide translation services when necessary, including English and Spanish.
  10. Receptionist Support: Cover for the clinic receptionist as necessary, including answering phones, scheduling/re-scheduling appointments, making confirmation calls, and other administrative tasks.
  11. Confidentiality: Preserve the integrity and confidentiality of patient medical records and other sensitive information as required by HIPAA Security Policy.
  12. Cross-Training: Cross-train in other clinic departments beyond your home department to ensure sufficient and stable staffing across the organization.
Requirements
  1. Bilingual Spanish/English
  2. High School Degree or GED
  3. Completion of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program
  4. National Certification as a Medical Assistant (Preferred)
  5. Basic Life Support Certificate
  6. Six Months Experience (Preferred)
  7. Phlebotomy Experience (Preferred)
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Applications
  9. Experience with Practice Management Systems and Electronic Health Records
  10. Ability to Maintain Confidentiality
