Job Summary

The James H. Quillen VA Medical Center is seeking a skilled Hematology Oncology Physician to provide high-quality healthcare to all veterans. As a member of the inter-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive, efficient, and compassionate care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical evaluation and direct overall management of patients in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Obtain a comprehensive health history and perform physical examinations on all patients who present to the Oncology/Hematology clinic or other assigned clinical areas.
  • Order and enter diagnostic studies and interpret laboratory tests, EKG, and radiology diagnostic tests (CXR, CT scan, PET, MRI).
  • Attend, participate, and present at weekly Tumor Board meetings.
  • Collaborate and consult with other providers and healthcare team members for confirmation of diagnosis and treatment.
  • Document initial visits, follow-up visits, procedures performed, problem lists, and progress notes in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
  • Provide consultative feedback and management on patients referred from other sections of the hospital and/or affiliated VA outpatient clinics.
  • Participate in equitable call coverage on a rotating basis with other providers in the Hematology/Oncology clinic.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Experience
  • Two years experience in Hematology/Oncology.
  • Board certified/eligible.
