Job Summary

This position is located in the Small Business/Self Employed (SB/SE) Division, Technical Services Branch, of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The incumbent will serve as a Tax Examination Technician 12 Month Register, responsible for examining tax returns and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine tax returns to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Conduct audits and investigations to identify and address tax noncompliance
  • Develop and implement plans to address tax noncompliance
  • Collaborate with other IRS employees to share knowledge and best practices
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations
Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship or national
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of specialized experience in tax examination or a related field
  • Ability to pass a background investigation
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to meet deadlines. The incumbent must be able to work independently and as part of a team. The position also requires the ability to communicate effectively with taxpayers and other IRS employees.
