Your Role

As a Senior Transportation Engineer (PE), you will engage in a diverse range of projects, from small-scale initiatives to significant roadway and highway developments. Your expertise will be pivotal in applying industry best practices and innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee projects involving traffic signal system design and optimization, operational assessments, roadway capacity evaluations, traffic safety analyses, and the design of traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, and street lighting.
  • Develop comprehensive construction documents and cost projections for municipal, county, and state roadway projects.
  • Execute intricate engineering design tasks in accordance with state design standards.
  • Formulate budgets and supervise project teams to ensure adherence to financial and scheduling commitments.
  • Collaborate with fellow Project Managers, team members, and clients to ensure project success.
  • Be accountable for the design, review, and approval of assigned projects.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to project teams and clients on traffic engineering issues.
  • Work alongside multidisciplinary teams, including urban planners and civil engineers, to devise integrated solutions.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate the technical aspects of assigned projects.
  • Mentor junior staff on design and operational analysis software relevant to traffic engineering.

Qualifications

Skills and Credentials

  • Expertise in Microstation and OpenRoads.
  • Familiarity with SIGN CAD, AGI-32, and micro-simulation modeling tools such as SYNCHRO, SIMTRAFFIC, VISSIM, and HCS.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong capabilities in drafting technical reports and presentations.
  • In-depth knowledge of state design and planning procedures, along with PS&E plan production.
  • Experience in traffic operations, safety assessments, highway capacity analysis, and the implementation of traffic signal systems.
  • Ability to tackle complex challenges with sound judgment and innovative thinking.
  • Strong communication skills for discussing project matters with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and convey design concepts effectively.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) is required.
  • Possession of a TX PE license or the ability to obtain one within six months.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) Certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in traffic engineering projects is required.
  • TxDOT Precertification is preferred.
