We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Appointee to join our Materials Physics Department at Sandia National Laboratories. The successful candidate will work on novel quantum microelectronics devices, focusing on developing a fundamental understanding of novel devices physics and performance based on quantum phase transitions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform nanoscale device fabrication using e-beam lithography, low temperature electronic transport measurements, as well as operation and maintenance of 3He cryogenic systems and a dilution refrigerator.
- Contribute creatively to team efforts and present results at national and international conferences.
- Publish research in high-profile peer-reviewed journals.
- PhD in condensed matter physics, electrical engineering, materials science, or other related sciences.
- Extensive hands-on experience in electronic device fabrication (including e-beam lithography).
- Extensive hands-on experience in low temperature transport properties measurements.
- A record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
- Experience with operation and maintenance of 3He and dilution refrigerator cryogenic systems.
- Experience with Josephson junction physics.
- Experience with topological quantum materials and III-V compound semiconductors.
The Materials Physics department performs fundamental research on the structure and properties of materials to support programs in energy research, device physics, materials reliability, and national security.
