About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Appointee to join our Materials Physics Department at Sandia National Laboratories. The successful candidate will work on novel quantum microelectronics devices, focusing on developing a fundamental understanding of novel devices physics and performance based on quantum phase transitions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform nanoscale device fabrication using e-beam lithography, low temperature electronic transport measurements, as well as operation and maintenance of 3He cryogenic systems and a dilution refrigerator.
  • Contribute creatively to team efforts and present results at national and international conferences.
  • Publish research in high-profile peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements
  • PhD in condensed matter physics, electrical engineering, materials science, or other related sciences.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in electronic device fabrication (including e-beam lithography).
  • Extensive hands-on experience in low temperature transport properties measurements.
  • A record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of 3He and dilution refrigerator cryogenic systems.
  • Experience with Josephson junction physics.
  • Experience with topological quantum materials and III-V compound semiconductors.
