Job Overview

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is seeking a dedicated Agricultural Compliance Inspector to perform essential inspections and enforce regulations concerning the invasive Spotted Lanternfly.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of businesses to verify adherence to State and Federal regulations.
  • Provide compliance assistance to support establishments such as wholesale and retail businesses in obtaining proper permits, maintaining records, and training staff on Spotted Lanternfly regulations.
  • Compile and present findings from compliance and enforcement activities in detailed reports to supervisors and share compliance information with industry stakeholders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Standard work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break.
  • This position allows for home headquarters if residing in specific counties.
  • Applicants may be required to report to designated locations for non-inspection tasks.
  • Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in certain cases.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in agricultural or biological sciences, including credits in chemistry, plant science, and animal science; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes the required credits.
  • Applicants nearing graduation with a qualifying degree will also be considered.

Special Requirement:
  • This role necessitates a valid motor vehicle operator's Class C Driver's License.

Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must meet residency requirements.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions is mandatory.
