Nurse Anesthetist

The Nurse Anesthetist administers anesthesia under medical direction for diversified surgical cases, utilizing inhalation, intravenous, spinal or rectal agents. This role requires skilled application of appropriate professional techniques, constant review of anesthetized patients' condition during surgery, and completion of remedial measures to counteract unfavorable clinical conditions.
Responsibilities
Participates and accurately documents patients pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation.
Formulates a patient-specific plan for anesthesia care in collaboration with attending anesthesiologist.
Implements, monitors and adjusts patients physiologic condition as appropriate for type of anesthesia and specific patients needs.
Recognizes abnormal patient response to anesthesia and adjunct medications; takes appropriate action.
Demonstrates ability to work in a stressful environment by prioritizing and implementing corrective action based on the situation.
Requirements
Valid Florida licensed RN/CRNA or eligibility for licensure as CRNA/Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.
National Board Certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
Working Conditions
This role requires extended standing or walking, and the ability to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. The job function also requires frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers.
