About the Role

The Senior IT Security Analyst is a critical member of our team, responsible for safeguarding our clients' technology from unauthorized access, threats, and vulnerabilities. This role involves monitoring, detecting, investigating, analyzing, and responding to security events, as well as implementing and maintaining defensive measures using cybersecurity systems, tools, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Securing Client Technology
    • Oversight of access, identification of suspicious activity, and recommendation of solutions to reduce risk and prevent cyberattacks
    • Partnership with other IT team members to secure networks, systems, applications, and sensitive information by ensuring adherence to best practices
    • Continuous development and use of modern security controls to protect client endpoints
    • Timely communication regarding security issues to peers and management
    • Validation of security software and firmware updates on all networks and systems
  • Performing Security Assessments
    • Identification, assessment, and prioritization of system vulnerabilities for timely remediation
    • Assessment and prioritization of potential risks and their impacts on organizational assets
    • Conduct or lead third-party simulated attacks to identify and address security weaknesses
    • Assessment of regulations and standards through regular audits and corrective actions
    • Provision of input on security policies from assessments to address current threats and recommendations for organizational alignment
  • Cybersecurity Incident Response and Disaster Recovery Planning
    • Response to security incidents, including containment, eradication, and recovery efforts
    • Timely communication and activation of Incident Response Team
    • Post-incident analysis to determine root cause and preventative measures
    • Maintenance and update of incident response documentation and tools
    • Planning of annual Cybersecurity Incident Response and Disaster Recovery Tabletop exercises
    • Evaluation and update of disaster recovery plans based on lessons learned and actual incidents
  • Education, Audit, and Compliance
    • Maintenance and advancement of security awareness, phishing testing, and specialized training for employees
    • Contribution to informing staff about new security threats, policies, and procedures through regular updates and educational materials
    • Conduct of internal security audits, support of external auditors, and ensuring audit findings are addressed
    • Tracking and maintenance of all audit recommendations and reporting on remediation progress
    • Staying current with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, and assisting in the development of policies to ensure compliance
    • Consultation on security policies and procedures and alignment with compliance requirements
  • Managing Business and Vendor Partnerships
    • Establishment and sustenance of effective working relationships with internal IT teams and business partners
    • Collaboration with partner organizations
    • Supervision and maintenance of relationships with the company's Cybersecurity vendors, specifically for:
      • Managed Services
      • Annual penetration testing
      • Annual security performance audits
      • Annual incident response (IR) and disaster recovery (DR) tabletop exercises
      • Various annual government and military assessments and audits
  • Governance and Risk Management
    • Development, update, evaluation, and assistance in the implementation of security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure they align with organizational objectives and regulatory mandates
    • Partnership with stakeholders to assist in the implementation and maintenance of a governance framework to oversee security initiatives, ensuring they are effectively managed and integrated across the organization
    • Partnership with the Cybersecurity Oversight Committee to discuss risk, remediation, and oversight (monthly)
    • Regular risk assessments and analyses to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential security threats and vulnerabilities
    • Development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies and controls, and continuous monitoring and reporting on their effectiveness
