Overview:

The Interventional Radiology Technologist plays a crucial role in executing a range of intricate specialized tasks while operating fluoroscopy, computed tomography, laser, and ultrasonography apparatus during vascular and neuroradiology angiographic and interventional interventions.

This position is pivotal in developing and implementing systems that ensure the seamless and efficient management of patient flow for procedures within the Interventional labs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies, demonstrating leadership in self-management, team collaboration, or organizational leadership.
  • Aids in providing diagnostic imaging for invasive procedures, including arteriography, catheter insertions, stenting, dialysis access, thrombolytic treatments, and angioplasty.
  • Operates and manages Special Procedures equipment, prioritizing patient safety and comfort.
  • Ensures optimal quality and precision of imaging outputs.
  • Supports the Radiologist/Interventional Radiologist as a scrub assistant during complex interventional procedures.
  • Coordinates patient scheduling for procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies, equipment, and prior imaging are prepared for the Interventional Radiologist.
  • Collaborates with physicians and nursing staff to ensure accurate documentation of charges and codes for each procedure.
  • Operates a variety of fixed and portable radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment throughout the healthcare facility, including surgical and intensive care units.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing patient care responsibilities tailored to the specific age and developmental needs of patients.
  • Registered vascular interventional technologist is expected to be available for on-call duties.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program or an equivalent recognized qualification required. A minimum of 12 months of training or experience in special procedures is preferred. Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology is required. The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Post-Primary Pathway in Vascular Interventional Radiography certification must be obtained within two years. State licensure is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required, with Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification preferred.
