About the Role

MV Transportation is seeking an experienced Safety and Training Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety programs and procedures that meet State and Federal regulations and corporate policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Compliance: Provide leadership and guidance on OSHA/CDL compliance and regulations, ensuring all operators are current with training requirements.
  • Safety Program Development: Develop and maintain safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices that meet the needs of our operating divisions.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Serve as the expert in EPA and OSHA, CDL compliance, and regulations, ensuring our organization remains up-to-date on all applicable rules and regulations.
  • New Hire Onboarding: Ensure all new hires meet minimum general qualifications for each division, including background and DMV checks.
  • Safety Technology and Analysis: Utilize safety technology tools to analyze trend data, identify areas for improvement, and develop plans to reduce and prevent future safety incidents.
  • Corporate Safety Incentives: Oversee corporate safety incentives and programs, ensuring they are managed effectively and consistently.
  • Safety Culture: Foster a consistent safety culture throughout our locations, emphasizing the team approach and individual responsibility of all employees to achieve common goals.
  • Claims Management: Work with corporate claims staff to ensure all liability and workers' compensation claims are handled promptly and effectively, with a focus on reducing financial liability and recouping subrogatable claims.
  • Employee Injury Management: Proactively manage all employee injury claims to minimize lost time and light duty claims, working with local medical facilities to ensure injured employees are placed on light duty as quickly as possible and returned to full-duty status promptly.
  • Audit and Compliance: Oversee the successful completion of all related audits, including those conducted by corporate and client staff, as well as state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Training and Development: Lead the division in the area of safety organization, ensuring classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction meets corporate and client specifications in all aspects.
Requirements
  • Transit Safety Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in transit safety, preferably in urban public transportation.
  • Education and Certifications: College degree or equivalent, with certifications such as CDS (Certified Director of Safety) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) Designation preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of all applicable safety rules, regulations (FTA, FMCSA, and DOT), and corporate safety programs and policies. Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work with all departments.
