Job Summary

Prisma Health is seeking a skilled Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to join our team. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of procedures applying ionizing radiation, working under the direction of the manager and in-charge technologist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform CT scans as directed by the Manager
  • Communicate with physicians and other work-related personnel appropriately
  • Identify patients and procedures, and inform nursing of patients that need IV sedation or biopsies
  • Fill out CT questionnaire and female questionnaire on all patients between the ages of 12-55 years old
  • Position patients accurately for all CT procedures, and transfer and position correctly for anatomy to be demonstrated for best visibility
  • Know scanning protocols in depth, and perform procedures correctly using protocol book for reference
  • Write time procedure is finished and filmed on patient board, and films must be archived and taken to radiologist for reading
  • Obtain appropriate supplies and prepare room for patient, and keep room cleaned and stocked at all times
  • Use proper technique when injection IV contrast, and ensure IV is working and checked first with an injection of saline
  • Choose correct method of injection (hand or injector), and be proficient in filming from imaging workstation
  • Respond to codes and other emergency situations appropriately
  • Explain CT procedure to patient and/or family member, and obtain completed questionnaire and proper history and clinical from patient, floor or physician's office
  • Inform patients and families of all delays, and train co-workers and students
  • Assist other technologists when not busy in assigned CT room
  • Acquire requisition and check for appropriate clinical, and charge procedure, supplies and surgical codes when exam is completed
  • Indicate no-film badge wearing name and fluoro time, and add surgical charges when needed
  • Operate the PAC's system appropriately and verify studies before sending to archive
  • Report equipment problems to supervisor, in-charge tech and document confirmation numbers
  • Fill out contrast sheet on all patients receiving IV and rectal contrast, and fill out CT forms on all patients
  • Communicate with radiologist to determine appropriate protocols for each exam, and correct protocols are utilized as prescribed by the radiologist
  • Procedures must be performed as directed by the radiologist, and correct scans as performed
  • Demonstrate recognition of anatomy and pathology as related to scan being processed, and perform warm up calibrations as needed
  • Maintain competency needed for working in the CT department, and perform point of care testing
Requirements
  • Certification: ARRT Registered and registered in CT
  • SCRQSA License
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • 3D Imaging preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
  • Data entry
