Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiologist to serve as the Chief of Imaging Service at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the Imaging Service and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Imaging Service using High Reliability Organization (HRO) and quality improvement principles to foster a culture of teamwork, competency, productivity, and accountability.
  • Directly supervise medical imaging healthcare professionals and administrative staff, including physicians, nurses, and technologists.
  • Indirectly supervise all other Imaging Service staff and allocate workload among staff based on position classification and other relevant considerations.
  • Participate in various meetings and committees at multiple levels within the VA enterprise to meet the needs of stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other Service Chiefs, program managers, and the Chief of Staff's Office to achieve established VA goals and priorities.
  • Establish plans and policies consistent with federal regulations, VHA Directives, and The Joint Commission standards.
  • Manage human resources within the Imaging Service, including hiring, appraisals, compensation, discipline, classification, praising, promoting, or dismissing.
  • Oversee the submission of new equipment and facility space requests, ensuring timely submissions.
  • Manage the financial management of the Imaging Service.
  • Recommend privileging requirements for radiologic, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine procedures based on training, experience, competence, and health status.
  • Review requests for initial and renewal credentials and clinical privileges, making recommendations.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Experience
  • 3 years of imaging leadership experience.
  • Diagnostic Radiologist also specialized in either Neuroradiology or Nuclear Medicine or MSK or Mammography with at least 3 years' experience in the specialized area of expertise.
