Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian 2 to join our facilities team at Green River College. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our buildings, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain various buildings, offices, and facilities, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
  • Empty and clean wastebaskets, trashcans, and recycle containers.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repair work, such as painting, cleaning furnace flues, and sharpening tools.
  • Utilize the computerized Maintenance Management System to track work orders and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • May supervise lower-level staff and participate in training sessions to improve work methods and knowledge of equipment and supplies.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or GED certificate.
  • Two years' experience in housekeeping, janitorial, general or building maintenance, or custodial work.
  • Knowledgeable of safety procedures and hazardous chemicals involved in cleaning and/or disposing of hazardous waste.
  • Able to follow written and oral instructions and understand cleaning levels set by APPA for Higher Education Facilities.
  • Able to utilize a computer maintenance management system.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years' experience in housekeeping, janitorial, general or building maintenance, or custodial work.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to perform tasks and duties in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to kneel, bend at the waist, reach above head, and work in confined spaces.
  • Able to work from elevated platforms and work from step and extension ladders.
  • Exposure to noise and possible objectionable smells and poorly illuminated work area.
  • Able to work around a diverse population and maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • May need to carry, lift or move equipment/supplies up to 75lbs.
