The Legal Aid Society of Northeast Ohio LLC is a newly established organization that operates independently and is dedicated to providing legal assistance to low-income communities.

The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for launching and leading this innovative organization. The initial operational framework includes plans to recruit additional team members to enhance service delivery.

This role involves engaging in local policy advocacy across multiple counties to drive systemic change and improve access to justice for underserved populations.

The Chief Executive Officer will utilize the resources and expertise of affiliated organizations to address the pressing issues faced by low-income individuals.

This leader will focus on creating equitable solutions related to housing, safety, economic stability, and access to legal resources, while promoting racial justice and inclusion.

The ideal candidate will possess strong advocacy skills, management experience, and a visionary approach to developing this new entity. The Chief Executive Officer will oversee all personnel and report directly to the governing board.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the governing board, staff, and community stakeholders to formulate a strategic vision and advocacy agenda.

Engage with local authorities to dismantle barriers faced by low-income communities and enhance access to legal services.

Foster partnerships with other legal aid organizations and nonprofits to strengthen advocacy efforts.

Ensure high-quality advocacy services are delivered, with a focus on racial equity and justice for marginalized communities.

Develop and manage organizational budgets, policies, and operational practices.

Oversee compliance with administrative agreements and ensure the organization's financial integrity.

Make critical decisions regarding staffing, including hiring and compensation, in alignment with the approved budget.

Support fundraising initiatives to secure necessary resources for the organization’s operations.

Maintain strong community relationships to cultivate support for the organization.

Ensure that the leadership and staffing structure aligns with the needs of the communities served.

Engage and support the governing board.
Foster a collaborative and respectful workplace culture that values diversity and staff morale.
Act as a public representative for the organization.
Balance community engagement with effective organizational management.

Preferred Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred but not mandatory.
10+ years of experience in a policy-driven environment.
Strong connections with public officials within the service area.

In-depth understanding of the challenges faced by low-income individuals and a commitment to social justice.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proven ability to build effective partnerships with community organizations.
Capacity to manage complex workloads and meet deadlines.
Proficient in technology, including MS Office and database management.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Entrepreneurial mindset essential for establishing a new organization.
Flexibility to work both in-person and remotely as needed.
Willingness to travel within the service area and beyond.
Availability for meetings outside of standard hours as required.
