Arlington Independent School District is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Vehicle Maintenance Technician to join its team. This role involves performing routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance on the district's fleet of vehicles to ensure their safe and efficient operation.

Job Summary

This position requires a high level of technical knowledge and expertise in heavy duty vehicle repair and maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex problems with air brake systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, and other critical components.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues and recommend preventive maintenance
  • Diagnostics and repair of air brake systems, including air compressors, air dryers, and air valves
  • Troubleshoot and repair fuel systems, including pumps, injectors, and mechanical/electric controls
  • Inspect and service hydraulic brake systems, including brake shoes, pads, drums, and rotors
  • Repair and maintain suspension systems, including front and rear suspension, springs, king pins, bushings, and torque rods
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, lube, and transmission service
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology or related field; or equivalent experience
  • Class B CDL with P and S endorsements within 90 days of employment
  • Texas School Bus Driver Training Certificate within 90 days of employment
  • State Vehicle Inspector License within 90 days of employment
  • One year experience as a heavy duty vehicle technician
Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will have regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, frequent exposure to diesel and propane fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions.

Arlington Independent School District offers competitive salary rates. Estimated salary range: $45,000 - $65,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
