Position Summary

The Transportation Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of sales and service operations by overseeing the profitable management of equipment pickup and delivery. This position serves as the primary contact for coordinating all transportation requests from the Sales and Service teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enhances vehicle utilization to optimize routing and capacity, ensuring prompt pickups and deliveries.
  • Effectively communicates precise pickup and delivery timelines and details to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Accurately records monthly expenditures related to transportation.
  • Ensures adherence to federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including reporting and permitting requirements.
  • Oversees driver staffing, compliance, coaching, and professional development initiatives.
  • Reviews driver working hours and approves them for payroll processing.
  • Manages the lifecycle of transportation equipment, assisting in identifying transportation needs and capabilities within budget constraints.
  • Analyzes data and reports to identify continuous improvement opportunities within the transportation department.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development focused on coaching and change management to foster an effective team environment.
Qualifications

Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge
  • Comprehensive understanding of delivery logistics and regulatory practices.
  • Familiarity with DOT transportation and vehicle regulations.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and scheduling software.
  • Basic knowledge of machinery and vehicle capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
