Job Summary:

Mississippi Southern Probation and Pretrial Services is seeking a highly skilled Probation Officer to join our team. As a Probation Officer, you will play a critical role in the supervision, treatment, and control of offenders who present a physical danger to officers and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct investigations and manage alleged criminal offenders or convicted offenders.
• Supervise, treat, and control offenders, requiring moderate to arduous physical exercise, including prolonged periods of walking and standing.
• Use self-defense tactics and maintain physical dexterity and coordination necessary for officer safety.
• Face unusual mental and physical stress due to frequent, direct contact with individuals who are suspected or convicted of committing Federal offenses.

Requirements:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate to arduous physical demands.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
