REPORTING TO: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all financial operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and financial reporting, ensuring proper cash deposit handling.
  • Supervise payroll functions, ensuring accuracy, reviewing quarterly reports, and managing the filing of payroll tax returns and deposits.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal control policies and procedures to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Review and reconcile all general ledger entries, posting journal entries as necessary, and ensuring the accuracy of all account balances.
  • Manage all banking and financial matters, conducting monthly bank statement reconciliations.
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Oversee the annual audit process, preparing the annual financial reporting package, including all A-133 and supplemental schedules, and ensuring timely filing of year-end tax returns and other regulatory filings.
  • Manage the financial aspects of grant oversight, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and accurate reporting, collaborating closely with program managers to track expenditures and fund allocations.
  • Timely invoice relevant agreements for meal reimbursement based on contracts and provide necessary financial data.
  • Maintain all service/vendor and equipment contracts.
  • Responsible for expense allocations and preparing cost accounting analyses for meals delivered.
  • Assist the CFO with financial presentations for staff and the Board of Directors.
  • Provide direct supervision to accounting staff, conducting regular performance reviews and offering constructive feedback.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making and effectively communicate perspectives to others.
  • Experience in nonprofit organizations with budgets of at least $15 million and familiarity with federal funding levels requiring A-133 audits.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and growing organization.

SALARY / HOURS / BENEFITS: The starting salary for this position ranges from $138k to $160k annually, depending on experience. This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position based on a 40-hour work week, offering partial hybrid/remote work options. MOWSF provides company-paid health, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance (100% paid for employee-only coverage). Our 403b plan includes a 3% discretionary contribution for all eligible employees. Vacation leave accruals start at 15 days (120 hours), and we observe a total of 10 holidays per year.
