**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accounting Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely accounting data for AFMEPF. Your exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team will be essential in standardizing practices and procedures.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable process and maintain correct financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Process remote bank deposits for checks received daily, adhering to strict deadlines and security protocols
  • Prepare a monthly schedule for returned checks, bank charges, and statement discrepancies, highlighting areas for improvement
  • Reconcile Trustees' expenses, ensuring transparency and accountability
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation for all other expense accounts, identifying trends and anomalies
  • Develop yearly analysis of legal expenses and activities for budget reporting, providing actionable insights
  • Respond promptly to information requests in support of the annual audit, demonstrating expertise and professionalism
  • Serve as backup for other Accountants in their absence, ensuring seamless continuity
  • Maintain knowledge of Business Central or similar ERP accounting software, implementing best practices and streamlining processes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, supplemented by relevant work experience and certifications (e.g., CPA)
  • 2+ years of proven work experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role, showcasing expertise in non-profit accounting principles and defined benefit pension plans
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.), with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and conceptual skills required, with a positive, solutions-oriented approach to your work
