We are seeking a Director of Procurement who brings extensive expertise in importation and contract oversight. The successful candidate will have 10-15 years of experience and a proven track record in enhancing processes that integrate Purchasing, Inventory Management, Vendor Management, and Compliance Management teams. This role is crucial for developing and executing a supply strategy that minimizes overall costs, optimizes inventory levels, and elevates customer satisfaction through exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Expertise in demand planning and import operations is essential.
- Define strategic guidelines and processes for the purchasing team to effectively manage inventory while enhancing product turnover and fulfillment rates.
- Provide leadership and strategic guidance to the supply team, encompassing Demand Planning, Procurement, and Inbound Transportation. Drive the team to implement best practices and assess performance through established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Set performance standards and collaborate with suppliers using a scorecard system to enhance vendor management for third-party suppliers. Identify and incorporate new alternative supply sources to boost fulfillment rates and improve cost structures.
- Enhance return on investment with third-party freight forwarding services by establishing priority contract agreements to expedite delivery times for direct shipments.
- Ensure that service levels and delivery timelines are consistently met or exceeded. Accurately communicate all inbound delivery receipts for freight and backorders internally. Strong negotiation skills for pricing and purchasing terms are required.
- Work closely with Product Managers on sourcing and lifecycle management of a diverse range of SKUs across key product categories, including gloves, apparel, eyewear, hearing protection, and general merchandise, to maintain optimal inventory levels and serviceability.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee Demand Planning, Procurement, and Inbound Transportation.
- Execute supervisory duties in alignment with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
- Responsibilities may include recruiting, training, and managing team members; planning and directing work; evaluating performance; and addressing employee concerns.
- Manage supply chain efficiency and operational processes, implementing industry best practices for forecasting, sourcing, risk management, inventory, and vendor relations.
