Health Advocates Network, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing mental health services to inmates at a correctional facility in San Quentin, CA.
Responsibilities:- Conduct initial mental health evaluations, including criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case history, to assess inmate needs and make treatment recommendations.
- Conduct clinically sound suicide risk evaluations, including clinical review, applying suicide risk assessment protocols, and proper documentation.
- Meet with mentally ill inmates for crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, and face-to-face interviews.
- Identify relevant signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders to comprehensively assess, diagnose, and manage presenting symptomatology.
- Apply psychological assessments in the selection, administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological tests.
- Write clinical reports regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and develop treatment plans that reflect standard practice.
- Consult on complex cases with supervisor, treatment team members, and CDCR institutional healthcare personnel.
- Document all care provided to inmates, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IOTT) meetings.
- Monitor inmate progress using Subjective Assessment Plan Evaluation (SOAPE) FORMATTED PROGRESS NOTES.
- Apply community standard of practice for the selection and implementation of psychological treatment modalities and maintain ethical standards.
- Perform mental status exam (MSE) in face-to-face interviews.
- Examine prior mental health records, institutional chromos, probation reports, court records, and other available documents to assist in the formulation of patient diagnosis and aid in the development of treatment plans.
- Establish collaborative ties with community programs, groups, agencies, board and care homes, etc. to develop supportive community relationships as assigned and approved by the supervisor.
- Conduct mental health education and develop additional resources for mentally ill and sex offender inmates.
- Assist patient-inmates in applying for entitlement benefits (SSI), community programs, and services.
- Participate in IDTT meetings.
- Compile and analyze data from audits pertaining to the mental health program requirements.
- Provide information to support staff for data entry.
- Provide written reports and consult with the Board of Prison Hearing and other CDCR staff.
- Develop a therapeutic relationship with patient-inmates, families, and caretakers to enhance effective treatment delivery.
- Represent the department at formal and informal settings regarding mental health matters.
- Maintain order and supervise the conduct of persons committed to the correctional facility to prevent escapes or injury.
- Give input and help implement new programs for the treatment, training, or rehabilitation of patient-inmates.
- Minimum 1-year previous working experience within the last 36 months as a Psychologist.
- Must be proficient in the English language and be able to communicate effectively.
- Ability to build rapport with clients.
- Strong leadership qualities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid and current CPR card (American Heart Association).
- Must have the required licenses, permits, and/or certifications in the state of CA.
