The Manufacturing Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing personnel within a designated department in a production setting. This role involves coordinating and delegating tasks, enforcing policies and procedures, and suggesting enhancements in manufacturing techniques, equipment, and operational protocols. Key responsibilities may encompass:

  • Assisting the department manager in improving the technical and financial performance of the unit.
  • Guiding adjustments in manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and customer expectations.
  • Upholding all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and regulatory standards.
  • Generating various reports, including production volume, yields, quality, productivity, and efficiency metrics.
  • Collaborating with other supervisors to synchronize departmental activities.
  • Scheduling personnel and estimating labor hour requirements for daily tasks.
  • Reviewing and approving time records for all assigned staff, explaining any discrepancies in hours worked and productivity.
  • Working alongside all departments to ensure adherence to GMP, GSP, FSSC practices, and QC policies, as well as proper equipment maintenance.
  • Collecting and providing necessary data for budget formulation or execution.
  • Collaborating with management to establish and communicate company policies, operational procedures, and objectives.
  • Implementing quality assurance initiatives to prevent or rectify defects in new or existing products.
  • Fostering effective employee relations by promoting a safe and positive work environment, analyzing and addressing work-related issues.
  • Travel and/or extended or off-hours may be necessary.

Qualified candidates will bring the following:

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree or higher preferred.

Experience

  • 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience required.
  • Experience in production, packaging, warehouse, and/or distribution preferred.
  • Background in the food industry preferred.

Specialized Knowledge

  • Familiarity with OSHA, Food Safety, FDA, and USDA regulations.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and certifications within the food sector (FSSC, ISO 9001).
  • Proficiency in computer systems (Microsoft Word, manufacturing operating systems).

Skills / Abilities

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Business acumen, including problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective time management through efficient planning and organization of daily production.
  • Delegation skills.
