Job Summary

PAGNY is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in Correctional Health Services. As an LPN, you will work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to provide patients with care, education, and support.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean environment for patients.
  • Measure and record patients' vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, food/fluid input/output, etc.
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene of the patient.
  • Monitor catheters and dress wounds.
  • Assist with patient positioning, standing, walking, and transferring.
  • Collect samples of blood and/or urine for testing.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests as ordered.
  • Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications via the ordered route.
  • Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments according to policy.
  • Assist in relevant patient teaching.
  • Record all care information concisely, accurately, completely, promptly, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms/templates.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse currently registered to practice in New York State.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence and skills in problem-solving, communication, priority-setting, and interpersonal relationships.
  • Experience in clinical nursing practice as a medical/surgical, behavioral health, or correctional health nursing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required; ACLS encouraged.
