About the Role: The National Automation Support Engineer is pivotal in executing the on-site deployment of intricate automation systems. This role collaborates with various cross-functional teams, including Technical Support, Field Service, Sales, Project Management, and Professional Development. The Engineer also provides national-level escalation support by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing sophisticated electro-mechanical systems, networked computer setups, and advanced software. This position entails field repairs and product updates while reporting service challenges to the technical support team.

This role is part of the National Service Support Team and operates remotely; however, candidates must reside within one hour of a major metropolitan airport in the Central United States. The position requires a commitment to travel at least 80% of the time, predominantly by air. At Danaher, our vision is to continually innovate healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize your judgment and expertise to identify and resolve unique and complex challenges related to laboratory automation systems.
  • Contribute to product and revenue expansion through high-quality execution of implementation processes, which may vary in complexity.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support, both on-site and remotely, to experienced field service engineers.
  • Collaborate effectively with teammates and installation teams to foster productive partnerships while working with limited supervision.
  • Leverage mentoring and training skills to impart essential knowledge and technical expertise to both internal and external customers.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry or military experience; or an Associate's Degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience must encompass complex electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Willingness to travel domestically at least 80% of the time, often on short notice, while working from a home-based office located within one hour of a major metropolitan airport.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability in customer-facing communication, both written and verbal, along with facilitation skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills (MS Office) and knowledgeable in network/LIS communication and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Standard Laboratory Practices, including Quality Control, record keeping, and regulatory compliance.
