Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role involves collaborating with a team to provide compassionate care for up to 50 residents who require assistance with daily living activities. The Attendant is tasked with managing medication under the supervision of nursing staff and ensuring the facility remains orderly during off-duty hours of administrative personnel. This is a full-time position that offers a comprehensive benefits package and a supportive company culture, including medical, dental, vision, pension, and various voluntary benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with daily living activities, ensuring each individual is treated with dignity and understanding.
  • Maintain and update the daily logbook, documenting observations about residents' conditions that may assist other shifts.
  • Ensure beds are kept tidy and change linens weekly or as needed.
  • Provide refreshments, such as fresh ice water, to residents during all shifts.
  • Support residents with personal hygiene tasks, including showers, and communicate any refusals to the nursing staff.
  • Be knowledgeable about emergency evacuation procedures and fire safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure prescribed treatments are administered correctly, including taking vital signs as required.
  • Assist residents during meal times, ensuring everyone is present and providing help as needed.
  • Help new residents acclimate by assisting with unpacking and guiding them to common areas.
  • Notify laundry staff when residents receive new clothing to ensure proper labeling.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of geriatric care, aging processes, and mental health considerations.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with residents, families, and colleagues through patience and tact.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in English for clear understanding.
  • Ability to read and comprehend medical instructions in English.
  • Experience working with elderly individuals requiring assistance with daily activities.
  • Empathy for the elderly and understanding of their needs for support in dressing, bathing, and eating.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma required. A minimum of one year of experience working with elderly or individuals with mental or physical challenges is preferred. Certified Nursing Assistant experience is highly desirable. Candidates must complete medication distribution certification within 60 days of hire and have some computer experience.
