Ardent Health Services Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical seeks a skilled Infection Control Nurse to join our team. As a key member of the Infection Control Team, you will play a vital role in preventing healthcare-associated infections by limiting the spread of transmission and unprotected exposure to pathogens.
Key Responsibilities- Surveillance and Data Analysis: Systematically collect, analyze, and interpret health data to disseminate appropriate health practices.
- Education and Training: Conduct educational and training activities for healthcare workers under guidance from the Director of Infection Control.
- Surveillance Rounds: Maintain a monthly schedule of surveillance rounds and follow-up on activities to correct deficiencies.
- Regulatory Compliance: Work with department managers to apply policies and procedures that ensure compliance with TJC, OSHA, CDC, CMS, and other regulatory/accrediting agencies.
- Event Coordination: Coordinate activities for staff for Infection Control Week, World Hand Hygiene Day, and other promotional events.
- Hand Hygiene Audits: Conduct hand hygiene audits and generate monthly hand hygiene audit reports.
- Staff Health and Safety: Liaise with the Employee Health Nurse on staff health issues or exposures and educate new hires on available Hepatitis B and influenza vaccination.
- Communicable Disease Reporting: Interact with and report communicable diseases to local and state health departments.
- Reporting and Data Analysis: Develop reports and statistical data, calculate infection rates using NHSN recommended denominator data.
- ICRAs and Risk Assessment: Assist with ICRAs for construction/renovation projects; assist director with performing hospital-wide annual risk assessment, annual infection control plan development, and setting goals and objectives.
- Infection Surveillance: Identify, investigate, report health-care associated infections among patients and personnel through ongoing surveillance.
- Log Maintenance: Maintain logs with infection surveillance data.
- Staff Education: Act as a resource in educating staff, patients, and family on the transmission of microorganisms, hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and personal protective equipment.
- Patient Isolation: Ensure adherence to patient isolation precautions on a daily basis.
- Lab Results Review: Work with the Director of Infection Control in reviewing positive lab results, central lines, and Foley catheters on a daily basis.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and other certifications required as applicable.
- Driver's License: Drivers License or State ID required for all travelers.
- Attestation and I9: I9 and Everify required for direct candidates; Attestation required for Sub candidates.
