Position Overview

Responsible for receiving, rotating, wrapping, and displaying fresh and processed meats. Assists in showcasing seafood, rotisserie chickens, prepared meals, and cheeses. Provides support to Members by addressing inquiries and suggesting products. Upholds all sanitation and safety standards within the meat department.

Understanding Your Role:

Learn to access and interpret production and/or financial performance reports for your department. Recognize the link between consistent execution and its positive impact on the business.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Assist Members by answering questions related to meats, poultry, and seafood. Provide recommendations on food products as needed. Weigh, package, wrap, and label cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood, including grinds. Aid the meat cutter in packaging freshly cut products. Inspect and store meat upon delivery, ensuring compliance with company quality standards. Maintain fully stocked meat, seafood, prepared foods, and cheese cases. Rotate products according to expiration dates and follow guidelines for disposing of damaged or expired items. Receive and unpack meat, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses in the designated storage areas. Clean and sanitize all equipment, display fixtures, and areas within the meat department. Adhere to all club policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned, including support in other departments as required. Regular, predictable attendance is a crucial aspect of this role.

Qualifications

Previous experience with fresh and processed meats is preferred. Familiarity with automatic/hand wrapping machines is preferred. Prior experience in a meat and/or deli department is advantageous. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Work Environment

Most of the time involves frequent movement on hard surfaces. May require bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping to examine or scan merchandise. Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May involve lifting and moving heavier or awkward items over 30 pounds with assistance. Work is conducted in a comfortable indoor setting with infrequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. Occasional exposure to cleaning agents may occur.

In accordance with Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position starts at $15.25.
