Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Architect to join our team at DataSF. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of complex engineering and architectural projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the design activities of a team of engineers and architects.
  • Establish and manage organizational budgets, goals, and objectives.
  • Supervise subordinate personnel, complete performance appraisals, and participate in the disciplinary process when necessary.
  • Establish design and construction standards, review and approve correspondence, reports, and estimates.
  • Write policies, procedures, correspondence, and evaluations.
  • Conduct important negotiations with government and architectural agencies.
  • Coordinate, interpret, and enforce policies, confer and coordinate with operating division managers, other departments, and state and local agencies.
  • Make presentations to boards, organizations, and the public.
Requirements
  • Nine (9) years of verifiable professional architecture work experience, with six (6) years as a licensed professional architect.
  • Two (2) years of experience equivalent to the City and County of San Francisco class 5211 Senior Architect.
  • Possession of a valid California License as a Registered Architect.
Substitutions
  • A Master's Degree in Architecture may substitute for 1 (one) year of work experience.
  • A PhD in Architecture may substitute for 2 (two) years of work experience.
Working Conditions

Some positions may require specific lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, working in high places, and confined spaces. Positions in this class may also be required to work specific schedules, including weekends, holidays, part-time, nights, and/or overtime.
